Breast lift in Montgomery, AL

As one of the most satisfying aesthetic breast procedures, a breast lift (mastopexy) lifts, re-shapes, and firms the breasts to achieve a perkier and more attractive appearance. Whether you’ve always been unhappy with your low-hanging or deflated-looking breasts or it’s the newer result of pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, or weight loss, a breast lift has the ability to help you love this area of your body. In a breast lift, the stretched-out skin is removed and the breast tissue is contoured. Although a breast lift is frequently combined with a breast augmentation, its goal is typically not to enlarge the breasts. Rather, the procedure is usually done to bring balance and proportion to the breasts.

Is a breast lift right for you?

If your answer to these questions is yes, a breast lift is probably a great option for you.

  • Your breasts have a deflated appearance
  • Your breasts have lost volume after weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or due to age
  • Your breasts are not firm
  • You have visibly loose skin on your breasts
  • Your breasts are asymmetrical in size or shape
  • Your breasts are “bottom heavy” (the tissue rests at the base of your breasts)
  • Your nipples are positioned low or point downwards

Details of mastopexy

Dr. Bauer performs mastopexy with the patient under general anesthesia. The procedure takes 2 to 3 hours if being done as a stand-alone surgery. There are different types of incisions which may be used, based on your specific case.

These incision types include the anchor incision, lollipop incision, donut incision, or crescent incision. During your consultation, Dr. Bauer will explain in detail which incision will be used for your surgery, why, and what the incision will look like once it’s healed.

From the incision, Dr. Bauer will carefully remove the excess, stretched-out breast skin. After this is complete, he will lift and contour the breast tissue, and if necessary, he may also re-position the areolas and nipples. After this, the skin will be tightened and the incisions will be closed.

Recovery and results

The average time for recovery from a breast lift in Montgomery AL is approximately one week, but it may take two weeks for the soreness, bruising, and swelling to subside. To assist with swelling and healing, you will need to wear a surgical bra the week during your recovery. After this, a support bra will need to be worn for longer (usually several weeks).

It’s important to be careful about avoiding pressure on your chest — especially during recovery, but even during the months following your procedure. Exercise should be avoided until Dr. Bauer gives you clearance to resume working out, but usually it’s about six weeks. Early results will be visible a few weeks after your mastopexy, with final results apparent at about six months.
