Facelift specialist in Montgomery, AL

A facelift greatly improves the signs of aging on the face and possibly the neck and jowls by tightening the support structure underneath the skin. At Alabama Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, we work closely with you to design the ideal treatment plan just for you, personalized to meet your unique needs. From our mini facelift to deep plane to non-surgical, we have the right facelift procedure for you.

Why get a facelift?

The older we get, the more environmental elements take a toll on our face. Things like UV exposure, smoke, and pollution — and of course genetics — can all add to the development of wrinkles. We also start to lose youthful volume in the face in the late 20s, which can make the face begin to look flatter, sunken, and more hollow.

What’s the average age to get a facelift?

The majority of facelift patients are in the age range of 40 to 70 years old, and there is no “set” age for a facelift. The best age to get a facelift will be determined by each individual’s own circumstances, which are unique to their specific face.

In particular, Dr. Raggio’s “lift and fill facelift” is often a great choice for older patients, as it not only smooths wrinkles and tightens sagging skin; but also provides volume to the face where needed.

The best way to find out if a facelift in Montgomery AL is a good option for you is to schedule a consultation with us so that we can go over your goals and assess your skin.

Deep plane facelift

Dr. Blake Raggio utilizes the same deep plane facelift technique that has been popularized by world-renowned facelift surgeon Dr. Andrew Jacono of New York, which provides a powerful and long-lasting result. This technique also has the following advantages:

  • Avoids an “overly tight” or “pulled” appearance
  • Delivers a natural-looking lift to the face and neck
  • Elevates sagging cheeks
  • Restores youthful cheek contour and volume
  • Improves nasolabial folds
  • Reduces shadowing and hollowing under the lower eyelids
  • Lifts the jowls and improves definition along the angle of the jaw
  • Results are more natural-looking and longer lasting

Mini facelift and Facelift

A mini facelift is an excellent option for patients who have only mild sagging of the mid-face and jowls. The procedure uses shorter incisions, which means smaller scars. A mini facelift pulls the skin only very slightly, which achieves very natural-looking results. A mini lift takes about two hours, and the majority of patients can resume work and light activities in approximately one week and exercise within two weeks.

There is a variation on the mini lift in which the skin and connective tissues of the lower face are tightened and permanently suspended by using a purse-string suture technique (as opposed to an incision), which provides an immediate lifting effect and achieves a beautifully youthful, natural-looking, and long-lasting appearance.

Lift and fill facelift

Dr. Raggio often utilizes the “lift and fill facelift”, which combines facelift and fat grafting to achieve enhanced results. While a traditional facelift tightens sagging skin and smooths out wrinkles, it doesn’t address the volume loss that many older patients have. As the years go by, many individuals lose youthful volume in the face, which can result in sunken or hollow areas. When fat grafting is added to a facelift, it can deliver volume in areas where needed to produce an overall rejuvenated effect. Dr. Raggio is the only facial plastic surgeon who performs this specific facelift in the Montgomery area .

Non-Surgical

If you’re thinking about a facelift, you may not necessarily need surgery. Sometimes a patient’s areas of concern can be addressed with a non-surgical facelift , wherein only cosmetic injectables are used. Botox ®, dermal fillers , and/or fat grafting can be used in what is called a “liquid facelift” to achieve a very effective lift and contour that has similar results to a traditional facelift. The advantages of a liquid facelift are its convenience, little downtime, and lower cost than a surgical facelift, and its disadvantages are that it is not permanent. Patients will have to have multiple treatments to maintain results.
